Rosa is a 13 year old registered Paso Fino mare. She is 14.2 hands. Rosa used to reside at a paso show barn but they were unable to make her gait properly. She simply does not gait like a paso is supposed to. She has absolutely no health, back or hoof issues to cause this. It is just the way she is. Rosa has been at the rescue for 4 years now and it would be great to finally find that perfect home for her! She is an extremely nice mare. She has ridden in the arena and on the trails. We ride her in a Dr. Cook's bitless bridle. Previous efforts at her former home to force her into a gait made her very leary of bits and hackamores and she still bears the scars of some of these tools. She is very comfortable in the bitless bridle and rides great. Typical of a Paso, Rosa has a lot of energy undersaddle but with a confident rider she is a nice ride. Rosa tends to bond with other mares and would be great for a trail riding couple who wanted to hit the trails together. However, we have taken her out alone as well.

This is a very intelligent, sensitive horse. She doesn't instantly warm up to new people. In fact, she is notorious for becoming very difficult any time someone comes to see her, and then she goes back to her sweet self when they leave. I have no problems working with her and she is very calm and willing. But she acts nervous around new people and requires that they spend some time with her before she'll allow them to work with her. But it is worth the effort because Rosa is a very nice mare and loves to have fun undersaddle with her rider. She needs an owner who is understanding of horses with this nature and willing to form a partnership with her.

She has a very smooth, easy to ride trot. Rosa stands nicely for the vet and farrier (most of the time) and has good ground manners. Her adoption fee is $300.
